KD's Cafe
KD’s Cafe is a multi-cuisine restaurant that has more personality than its brightly colored walls! For the last twenty-five years, KD’s has been providing great dining and fun entertainment in their “this doesn’t look like Waycross” décor cafe. When you step into the door at KD’s you are greeted by a grand dining room with glossy ornate ceilings, vivid colored walls, and eclectic decor all around.
Kevin Woods grew up in Brantley County with his sister Heidi (both owners of Kd’s Cafe) and started his career as a young teen of 14 in the food industry. After graduating from Brantley High School, he lived in Savannah, working in kitchens across Coastal Georgia. On a visit home to Waycross, he spotted the expansive building in 1995 and at the age of 26 purchased the building and with his sister, opened the cafe as a barbeque hot spot and catering service. The menu has evolved over the years, Kevin finds inspiration from many different cultures and creates incredible fusion dishes. After visiting the cafe, you immediately understand how KD’s weathered the 2008 national economic depression and recent pandemic. Loyal customers, the regulars come back again and again, not only for the tantalizing menu but for the personality of KD’s Cafe, it embraces you like a warm hug.
As a wave of new businesses and residential apartments start the rebirth in downtown Waycross, Kevin has been there to help his community grow in every way, offering free event space for non-profit fundraisers, renting out the loft rooms to theater groups, and dance studios. “It feels really good right now, the growth and activity downtown. I am excited to see what happens and ready to help where I can,” Kevin says. If you’re looking for a unique dining experience, KD’s Cafe should be at the top of your list, we know it’s on the top of ours!
