Historic Chesser Island Homestead was once settled by pioneers in the mid-1800’s at the edge of the Okefenokee Swamp. The rooms of this home are complete with traditional settler furnishings. See how the Chesser’s lived simply and worked hard by touring their syrup shed, chicken coop, corncrib, hogpen, and smokehouse. Surrounded by the home is a sandy lot that was constantly raked and maintained to spot any critter tracks and reduce fire danger from the swamp.
